Built as a private Georgian stone manor in 1836, Cranewood has stood at the heart of Sackville for nearly two centuries. Today it's a place of warmth, community, and beautiful food.
Built in 1836 for William Crane — a prominent merchant, senator, and one of the founders of the Cunard shipping line — the manor stands as a testament to Sackville's storied past. Josiah Wood, another distinguished figure who served as Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, later acquired the estate in 1867. Together, the Crane and Wood families shaped much of the region's commercial and civic life, and their legacy lives on in these very walls.
The historic home is lovingly restored and transformed into a café and bakery, preserving its original character while welcoming the community inside.
From morning coffee to Friday night dinners, Cranewood has become a beloved gathering place for locals, students, and visitors to Sackville.
"We believe that good food, made with care and sourced locally, brings people together."
Everything on our menu is prepared in house, from our artisan sourdough loaves to our pastries and cakes. We partner with local growers and producers wherever possible — including Down East Coffee, Belliveau Orchard, and Kissing Rocks Kombucha.
Cranewood is more than a café. It's a place to linger, to connect, and to be nourished.
Down East Coffee — locally roasted beans used in all our espresso drinks and filter coffee.
Belliveau Orchard — pressed local cider served hot, cold, or blended into our smoothies.
Kissing Rocks Kombucha — a rotating selection of locally brewed flavours.

"I like being in season. I like looking at what we have available at that time, and just going from there."
Kim Martin is a proud Sackville native who has brought her culinary passion full circle — back to the community she grew up in. After studying culinary arts in Charlottetown, Kim spent years honing her craft across the country, working in some of Canada's most celebrated food destinations including Banff, Winnipeg, Halifax, and the Annapolis Valley.
Before joining Cranewood on Main, Kim served as chef at Bistro Le Chat Bleu in Baie Verte, where she developed a reputation for thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking that reflected the bounty of the region.
At Cranewood, Kim brings that same philosophy to life every Friday evening. Her menus are never formulaic — they're built around what's fresh, what's local, and what feels right for the season. The result is a dining experience that feels both grounded and surprising, familiar and exciting.
